Funeral services were held last Wednesday for the late Hugh Joseph MacInnis, 77, of Cape George, in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove, with Rev. William DeCourcy officiating. Mr.MacInnis died April 13 in St. Martha’s Hospital. Pallbearers were Michael Novak, Mark MacInnis, Alex Adams, Frank MacNeil, Dan Hugh MacInnis, and Angus MacEachern. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Born in Cape George, he was a son of the late John and Anastasia (MacDonald) MacInnis. He was a self-employed fisherman for more than 50 years and was a member of St. George’s Co-op in Cape George. Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth MacEachern; five daughters: Gertrude (Mrs. Robert Griffin), Natick, Mass; Rita (Mrs. Waler Cameron), Hopington, Mass.; Barbara (Mrs. Bernard MacEachern), Halifax; and Marguerite and Catherine, both at home; two sons: John D., Lakevale; and Robert, Cape George; six sisters: Janice (Mrs. Vincent Sacco), Florida; Christie (Mrs. Henry Chebou), Lynn, Mass.; Linda (Mrs. Hudson Mason), Lismore; and Hanna, Cape George; three brothers: Dan J. and Augustus, both of Cape George; and Albert, Lakevale; and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters: Louise (Mrs. Harvey McPhee, Ballantynes Cove; Linda (Mrs Hudson) Poole, Lakevale; and Florence (Mrs. Henry) Mason, Merigomish.
