Funeral services for the late John Hugh MacInnis, 73, of Cape George, Antigonish County, were held on January 8 in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove, with Reb. Angus MacGillivray officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Mr. MacInnis died on January 6 in St. Martha’s Hospital. Active pallbearers were sons-in-law DAvid Austen, Allan J. MacDonald, Gerard MacDougall, Andrew Brown and Arthur MacDonald, and grandson Joseph MacInnis. Honorary pallbearers were nephews John Andrew Boyd, Daniel Boyd, Alvin Boyd, Albert Falkenham, Daniel Falkenham and Hugh MacInnis. Born in Cape George, he was a son of the late Daniel James and Mary Ann (Gillis) MacInnis. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Arras Branch #59, Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Fallon MacLellan; five daughters, Marianne (Mrs. Dave) Austen; Simone (Mrs. Arthur) MacDonald, both of Antigonish; Rose (Mrs. Allen J. ) MacDonald, St. Andrew’s; Shirley (Mrs. Andrew) Brown; and Roberta (Mrs. Gerard) MacDougall, both of Livingstone’s Cove; four sons Joseph and Elton, both of Cape George; Jimmy, Livingstone’s Cove; and Leroy, Lower South River; a brother, Mark, Cape George; and 26 grandchildren. He was predeceased by five sisters, Holda, Mary Ellen, Margaret, Esta and Katherine; and four brothers, William, Alexander, Hugh and Raymond.
