MacInnis, Joseph Lauchlin”Joe”

24 Mar 2023

We are heartbroken to announce the death of Lauchlin Joseph MacInnis, 77, of Cape George, Antigonish County on March 24th, 2023, in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

Joe was born on June 18th, 1945, to the late John Hugh and Mary (MacLellan) MacInnis.

In his earlier years, Joe was an autobody technician and then a fisherman’s helper.  Joe loved life and lived each day to its fullest.  He was a jack of all trades and a master of all.  If it was broken, Joe would fix it and he would not stop trying until he did.  If you ever needed anything, all you did was ask, and he’d be there and never asked for anything in return.

Joe was a prankster and nothing made him feel better than getting one over on you.  If you were on the receiving end of one of his pranks, you knew he cared for you.  He had a quick wit and a quick mind.

He is survived by his partner of 41 years, Bernadette Rector of Cape George, son, Joseph; Halifax; grandsons, Rowan and Conner (whom he adored) and their mother, Amber, of Port Williams; sisters, Mary Ann (Dave), Antigonish; Rosie (A.J.), St. Andrews; Shirley, Livingstones Cove; Simone, Antigonish; Roberta, Glen Air Estates; and brother, Leroy (Ann Marie), Antigonish.

Predeceased by his brothers, Elton and Jimmy.

Cremation has taken place with no visitation by family request.  Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove, at 10:00am, with Fr. Andrew Boyd presiding.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care staff at St. Martha’s for taking care of Joe in his final days and Dr. Steve Gallant, his family doctor.

In Memoriam, donations to Holy Rosary Church appreciated.
