MacInnis, Mary A. (Gillis)

9 Nov 1946  Mary A. MacInnis (Gillis)

On Nov 9, 1946, the community of Cape George Point was deeply saddened by the death of Mrs. DAn J. MacInnis.  Afflicted with a heart ailment Mrs. MacInnis had been in failing health the last two years, but it was not until two weeks prior to her death her illness became acute.  All the members of her family were at her bedside to bid farewell to one they loved  so well.  A devout member of the Catholic Church, the deceased was highly respected and loved by all who knew her.  Kind and charitable, she will be greatly missed at home and in her community.  The funeral took place Monday morning at Ballantyne’s Cove with requiem Mass offered by Rev. A.I. MacAdam, P.P., who also officiated at the grave.   Born at Glebe Road, Georgeville, the deceased was the former Mary A. Gillis, daughter of the late Archibald and Margaret (MacDonald) Gillis.  She was 74 years of age.  Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn their loss two sons and three daughters:  Mark at home; John Hugh living at Cape George; Margaret (Mrs. Shaw Boyd), Morristown;  Estia, North Lakevale; and Katherine (Mrs. Kimbal Falkenham), at Ballantyne’s Cove; also two step-sons and two step-daughters:  William living at Cape George; Alexander at Revelstoke, B.C.; Mary (Mrs. Dan H. MacDonald), Cambridge, Mass.: and Hilda (Mrs. J.D. Boyd), Quincey, Mass.  The latter three were called home during her illness.  She also leaves one sister Cassie (Mrs. Angus N. MacIsaac), Malignant Cove, and three brothers:  Dan at Georgeville; John in Roxbury, Mass.; and Angus in Florida; also twenty-four grandchildren.  The large number of Mass cards, telegrams and messages of sympathy testified in a small way the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
