There died at St. Martha’s Hospital, July 3, 1938, Thomas MacInnis, son of the late Hugh Donald MacInnis, Cape George Point.  The deceased suffered from cancer for several years, and died in his 67th year.  A man of sterling qualities he will be missed by his many friends.  He was charitable to the needy, patient and industrious.  He is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Charles MacNeil, Morar, and a sister in Boston.  After requiem Mass by Rev. D. Beaton,  his remains were laid to rest at Ballantynes Cove church yard.  The funeral was largely attended.

Thomas MacInnis

The passing of Thomas MacInnes, life long resident of Cape George Point, comes as a great blow to his many friends and relatives.  He as a man of great character and faith, and human understanding for all.  His unwavering and strong faith helped him endure without a complaint the great suffering he underwent previous to his death.  He died at St. Martha’s Hospital on the morning of July 3, 1938, attended by the good Sisters to the last.  He received the last rites of the Church.  He is survived by three sisters and one brother; Mrs. Chas. MacNeil, Morar; Mrs. Joseph Noel, Malden, Mass.,; Mrs. Thomas J. Gallagher, Washington, D.C.; and Dan J. MacInnes, Cape George Point.  All the surviving members of the immediate family were present with the exception of Mrs. Gallagher, who arrived too late for the funeral.  The pall bearers were John Hugh MacInnis, Mark MacInnis, William MacInnis, Colin MacInnis, Dan Hugh MacInnis, Frank MacNeil, all nephews of the deceased.  After requiem Mass at the Church of the Holy Rosary, Ballentyne’s Cove, his remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife and parents.  Requiem Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Donald Beaton, P.P.. The funeral was largely attended which testified to the esteem in which he was held.
