On November 3, the death occurred of Robert MacIntyre, one of the most esteemed citizens of the town of Antigonish.  His demise was the occasion of much sorrow on the part of relatives and friends, as he was the centre of much regard and admiration.  Mr. MacIntyre, a graduate of Sydney Academy, joined the R.C. A.F. in 1941.  In his service he was painfully injured and required much hospital  treatment in Halifax and Toronto.  Refusing to succumb to the effects of his injury, he enrolled at St. F.X. University in 1945.  In the following year he left to work for Dept. Of Highways, and married Eleanore Ballentyne R.N. of Antigonish County.  In 1948 he returned to a college career, and graduated first from St. F.X. University (1951) and then from Nova Scotia Technical College (1953).  From that time until his death, he was Resident Engineer in Antigonish for the Department of Highways.  He pursued his work with that efficiency and charm of manner which were the particular marks of his character.   He was active in the Lions Club, the Legion and in every project designed for the betterment of the community.  He leaves behind him, in addition to his widow, six children – Robert, David, Edward, Ian, Gerry, and Mary Elaine.  In mourning also are his parents, Mr and Mrs R.D. MacIntyre of Sydney, his brother Howard of Bale Comeau, his sister Ann (Mrs. Don McVey of Windsor, Ontario.   He was predeceased by his sister Mary in 1944.  Many friends and admirers attended the funeral service in St. Ninian’s Cathedral.  The Mass was sung by Rev. A. Doyle with the assistance of the Marian Boy Choir under the direction of Rev. T. Lynch.  Blaise Cameron was soloist.  The pallbearers were Tom Sears, Percy Archibald, Joe “Beef” Cameron, Fraser Dunn, Rudy Villeneuve and Dr. R. Greening.  May he rest in peace.
