The death of Rev. Francis N. MacIsaac, pastor of St Columba Parish, Lakevale, occurred suddenly at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, on November 2. Father MacIsaac was born in 1917 in Sydney, son of the late Roderick G. MacIsaac and Mary MacNeil. He was educated at Sydney Academy, St. Francis Xavier University and St. Augustine’s Seminary, Toronto, and was ordained to the priesthood in 1944. His appointments in the diocese of Antigonish were as assistant at Bras d’Or, Iona, and St. Andrew’s; administrator at Glendale, South West margaree, and Brook Village. In 1955, he was appointed pastor in Brook Village, and the following year pastor of St. Mary’s, Mabou. In 1961 he was named pastor of Mount Carmel Parish, New Waterford, and in February, 1967, pastor in Lakevale. During the early 50’s Father MacIsaac was involved with the extension department of St. Francis Xavier University in the area of land settlement. He is survived by one sister, Mary (Mrs. Roddie Hector MacNeil), Official Row, Glace Bay. The remains rested at Currie’s Funeral Home, Antigonish, and were transferred to Lakevale church on Wednesday afternoon. A concelebrated requiem Mass was offered today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. with burial at Lakevale.
