Fatal Accident: Alex. MacKinnon, aged 40 years, formerly of Cape George, Ant., was accidently killed on Monday evening while at work in the mines at Springhill. He was thrown down a chute and buried under a mass of coal. A relief party at once set to work to rescue their comrade, but as the coal at the bottom of the chute was removed, that from the top continued to run down, thereby preventing the men from reaching Mr McKinnon, and his body was only recovered after several hours. He leaves a wife and four children. His father, Mr. John McKinnon, resided with the deceased. At the time of the accident he was visiting at Cape George, where he learned of his sad bereavement. Mrs. Allan Gillis of this Town is a sister of the deceased.
