Funeral services were held on Sunday for Catherine MacNeil, 77, of Malignant Cove, who died in St. Martha’s Hospital on June 18. Mass was celebrated in St. George’s Church, Georgeville. Burial was in the parish cemetery. The pallbearers were Carl MacAdam, John M. MacPhee, Bernard Chisholm, John Angus Chisholm. Leo MacInnis, and John Hugh Simms. Mrs. MacNeil was a native of Georgeville, a daughter of John and Mary (MacInnis) MacInnis. She was the widow of John J. MacNeil whom she married after the death of her first husband, Hugh MacGillivray, both of Malignant Cove. She is survived by four daughters, Margaret Simms, Pine Tree; Mamie Chisholm and Agnes MacGillivray, Malignant Cove; and Rita (Mrs. Guy Mattatall), Westville; son Bernard MacGillivray, Antigonish; 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Two brothers and three sisters are dead.
