23 Dec 1945 Daniel MacPherson
A well known Revelstoke resident, Daniel MacPherson, died suddenly at his home 201 Fifth Street East, Sunday evening, Dec. 23. Born in Georgeville, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of Hugh James MacPherson and Euphemia MacDougall, who were also born in the same county. The deceased went west to Revelstoke in 1905 and joined the Canadian Pacific Railway in the spring of 1906. He retired in 1943 after thirty-seven years with the railway company. Mr. MacPherson’s friendly personality and his willingness to help others made him popular with all sections of the population. His passing, on the eve of Christmas, occasioned widespread expressions of regret. He is survived by his wife and three children: Allan, attending the University of British Columbia after several years of operational service with the R.C.A.F.; Miss Helen MacPherson, R.N., who returned several months ago from nursing service in the African war theatre, and Mrs. O. S. Harris. A sister, Mrs. Katherine MacIsaac, Newton Centre, Mass., and several nephews and nieces in Eastern Canada and the United States also survive. Funeral services were held in St. Francis Church, Thursday morning. Requiem high Mass was celebrated by REv. Paul Jansen, the absolutions being given by Rev. Hugh MacIsaac, nephew of the deceased, St. Patrick’s Parish, Vancouver. The pallbearers were Ald. H.W. Keegan, James MacKenzie, Frank Curtis, Alex MacInnis, J.R. Duncan and W.G. Flemming.
