Antigonish – Sept 2 – Hugh MacPherson, or Morar, dropped dead near his home yesterday agternoon while stooping to pick up a log. The young man and his father and Wm. Cunningham were engaged in hauling timber from the MacPherson farm to the breakwater at Livingstone’s Cove and were loading the truck when Mr. MacPherson stopped over to assist in lifting a log and fell on the ground dead.
Former Mail Driver
The deceased was for a number of years mail driver between Livingstone’s Cove, Morar, Georgeville, Malignant Cove, Maryvale and Antigonish, and was a courteous faithful official who enjoyed the respect of all who knew him. He gave up this position over a year ago and suffered two serious illnesses, pneumonia and appendicitis, after leaving the service which it is believed weakened his heart for he did not regain his strength after the long siege of sickness. John R. MacDonald, P.P., officiating.
