Cape George lost one of its oldest and most respected residents in the death, March 11, 1937, of Alexander MacPhie. Mr. MacPhie, who celebrated his ninety-third birthday the previous day, was the son of the late Mr and Mrs. William MacPhie and practically all of his life was spent at Cape George. His wife died about 25 years ago, and for the last number of years he had made his home with his son Seward. Surviving are three daughters and five son; Mrs. J.C. MacNaughton, Antigonish; Mrs. Robert Simpson, Boston; Miss Etta, of Roxbury; John, New York; Charles and Archie, Hartford, Conn.;Albert, Montreal, and Seward at home. One sister Mrs. Elizabeth MacPherson, Pictou Landing, and one brother William, Cape George, also survive. The funeral was held Friday afternoon, interment being at Cape George.
