Funeral services for the late Harold C. MacPhie, 88, of the R.K. MacDonald Home and formerly of Ballantynes Cove, Antigonish County, took place December 7 in St. James United Church, Antigonish with Rev. Glenn Ashford officiating. Burial was in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Ballantynes Cove. Mr. MacPhie died December 5 in the R.K….. Active pallbearers were James MacEachern, Doanld Macdonald, Carl MacGillivray, Stewart macPhie, Janet Long and Donna MacPhie, all grandchildren of the deceased. Honary pallbearers were Kimball Falkenham, Larry Roberts, Buddy MacEachern, Albert MacEachern, Ernest MacNaughton, John D MacDonald and Harold Ballantyne. Born in Cape George, Antigonish County, he was a son of the late William and Kate (MacNair) MacPhie. He was a fisherman and painting contractor. He is survived by his wife, the former Louise MacInnis, Antigonish and two sons Harold J., Cape George; and John M., Antigonish; five daughters, Johan (Mrs Malcolm) MacEachern, Antigonish; Janet Murphy, Middleton; Doris Ann (Mrs. Ron) Fox, Chicago; Anne (Mrs. Ray) MacDonald, Arisaig; and Gladys MacGillivray, Williams Point; two sisters Margaret, Cape George and Kathleen Thompson, Halifax; 27 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, William and Leonard; three brothers, Leonard, Matthew and Irving; and two sisters, Mabel and Elizabeth.
