Daniel Allan McDonald, 79, passed away Monday, March 2 in the Boundary Hospital after a short illness. He was born at Cape George, N.S. where he took his schooling. Before coming to Grand Forks in 1918 he had worked in Anyox and Phoenix as a carpenter at the mines. For many years he was a carpenter with contractor C. McDougal. He then worked for the Provincial Department of Public Works and retired from the position of bridge foreman 13 years ago at the age of 67. For four years he worked as a guard at the public school here. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church. Beside his wife Mary he is survived by two sons, Daniel of Terrace and Joseph of Oliver; three daughters, Mrs. A.F. (Florence) Brown of Penticton, Mrs. Michael (Catherine) Delich of Rossland and Mrs. Wilfred (Bernadette) Zunti of Luseland, Sask. He was predeceased by a son John A., a bombardier with the R.C.A.F. who was killed in action in 1945 over Germany. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frank McDonald, Grand Forks, and Mary Ann in Nova Scotia, and one brother Stephen in Nova Scotia. There are 19 grandchildren. Mass was sung Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Muelenbergh officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
