On Saturday, Jan 5th, 1924, of heart failure, Dougald Michael McDonald of Malignant cove, in the fifty-seventh year of his age. Though the final summons came suddenly it did not find him unprepared. Of a kind and lovable disposition he was beloved by a host of friends and acquaintances to whom his sudden passing came as a distinct shock. He is survived by his widow, seven sons and two daughters as well as by two sisters. He was a member of St. Ninian’s council of the Knights of Columbus.
Dougald MacDonald of Malignant cove, died suddenly last Saturday morning just after he had left home to come to Antigonish with one of his sons. When about half a mile from home he suddenly leaned over the dashboard of the pung in which they were riding as if he were watching for signs of interfering on the part of the horse. A moment later he fell out of the sleigh. He was carried into a house nearby, and died without regaining consciousness. Fortunately, Rev. D.J. Rankin, P.P. Arisaig was in the neighborhood and he arrived in time to administer the last rites. The deceased was about 57 years old, and had been afflicted with heart trouble since returning from British Columbia about five years ago. He is survived by his wife and nine children. Mrs. MacDonald, a son and two daughters who were in Massachusetts, arrived home Tuesday morning. Interment took place Tuesday afternoon in Georgeville
