Jan/Feb 1959 Colin Francis McDougall
A native of Georgeville, Antigonish County, Colin Francis McDougall, 73, died recently in Nelson, British Columbia, where he had made his home for the past 35 years. A contractor and builder in West Kootenay and a pioneer of Nelson, Mr. McDougall went there when he was 19 as bridge foreman with the CPR. After marrying the former Mary McGillivary of Maryvale, he returned to Neolson and worked for the CPR in Cascade, Midway, Phoenix and for 15 years in Grand Forks. In 1924 the McDougall family made their home in Nelson. When he left the CPR, Mr McDougall entered the contracting business and worked in partnership with Frank McCharles and also Laurence Simpson. He was a parishioner of the Cathedral of mary Immaculate and a charter member and honorary life member of the Nelson Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his widow; once sister, Mrs. Dan R. MacGillivray of Maryvale; two sons, Dan at Port Coquitlam and Jack at Bonnington Falls; three daughters, Mrs. M. Mangan in Penticton and Mrs. Walter Ducksworth and Miss Mary McDougall in Nelson and 11 grandchildren. Another daughter, Margaret , died in infancy and a son, Clarence was killed in the Second World War.
