A well-known CPR locomotive engineer, Vincent Joseph McEachern passed away suddenly Monday afternoon. Mr. McEachern had been suffering from a cold for several days. When his condition became worse, he was taken to the Queen Victoria Hospital and died soon after admittance from a heart attack. Born in Antigonish, N.S., March 18, 1891, he came to British Columbia almost 45 years ago. He had 41 years with the Canadian Pacific Railway as a fireman and engineer. He was a member of the Ash Kennedy Division No 657, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Mr. McEachern had worked on the Revelstoke division for over 20 years. He was a popular railroader and his sudden passing shocked the community. He is survived by his wife, three sons, W.J., locomotive engineer here; J. T., fireman with the CNR, Kamloops and Corporal Donald with the Canadian Army at Aldershot, N.S. and one daughter, Margaret (Mrs. Stanley Clinton), Revelstoke. Three brothers, Alex, Henry and Dan, and a sister Anna live in Boston and a brother, Rod, in Moose Jaw, SK. Funeral services were held in St. Francis Church …… rest of narrative damaged.
