George Morrison McNair, 74, died at Hurleton Sunday morning. He had been in failing health for the last three years and had been bedridden for three weeks. He was born Oct 24, 1861, in Cape George, Nova Scotia. As a young man he was a member of a crew on a fishing schooner from Cape Cod, Mass. He came to California when he was 32 years old. For several years he worked as a miner in Plumas and Sierra counties. He has been a rancher in the Hurleton district for more than 48 years. For many years he grew fruit and vegetables which he peddled in La Porte, Gibsonville and Howland Flat. He also raised stock. He had been a Mason for 51 years. He was a member of the LaPorte lodge until it gave up its charger and united with Forbestown lodge. Surviving are his wife Mrs. Virginia Irene Greenwell McNair; William R. McNair, a son of Lake. Mrs. B.F. Pauly of Quincy, a daughter, and four grandchildren.
