Alex Gillis and his wife Sarah “Sadie” (MacKinnon). She was from Lismore. Lived at Georgeville and she was a midwife in the Morar, Georgeville area, delivering babies and tending to the sick. Alex made coffins and his wife sewed the linings for the coffin. Sadie provided entertainment at parties and she would jig tunes and the partygoers would stepdance. She was a native Gaelic speaker, the last in the Livingstone’s Cove area. Alex’s father was a coffin maker prior to him.
