A lengthy article written by E.T. Goring, about the retirement of J.P. S. Ballantyne, who had been the superintendent of the Dominion Experimental Station at Kapuskasing in 1945. He had been appointed the first superintendent when the project was just starting out. The article goes on to describe what Smith did prior to this job, which included working in mines, working on the CNR railway and farming. Originally, he had been hired for the Experimental Station to clear the land, and once that was done he oversaw the planting of crops and the building of other farm buildings…..
