Roberts, Helen Gertrude, 81, Ballantyne’s Cove, Antigonish County passed away peacefully on May 19, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Lower Sackville.
Born in Brierly Brook, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Mary (Baxter) Campbell.
Helen worked as a CNA at St. Martha’s Hospital for many years retiring in 1994. She kept very active in retirement with swimming, skating, bowling, golfing, knitting and playing bridge and cards. She devoted time to the friendship corner as well as church activities. Helen always enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and cats. She will be sadly missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
Surviving are her family: Wayne MacDougall, Antigonish; Lynn MacDougall, Halifax; Mary Frances (Gus) Beaton, Lower Sackville; Evie (Doug) Kirkhope, Calgary; Gerard MacDougall, Antigonish; grandchildren: Gary, Kent, Allison, Terra, Meagan, Alexander, Brad and Jenna; brother: George Campbell, Bonneyville, AB and sisters: Evelyn (Francis) MacDonald, Brierly Brook and Florence Tramble, Hamilton, ON.
Helen was predeceased by her first husband, Billy MacDougall, second husband, Larry Roberts, two infant children,; daughter, Evelyn Kathryn; sister, Isabel VanDerVoort; brother, Sonny Campbell.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on Monday, May 23rd, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 24th in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society, Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove or charity of choice.
