Funeral services for the late Violet J. Roberts, 82, of Ballantyne’s Cove, Antigonish County, were held this past Monday in Holy Rosary Church, Ballantyne’s Cove with Rev. Angus MacGillivray officiating.  Burial was in the parish cemetery.  Mrs. Roberts died June 30 in St. Martha’s Hospital.  Active pallbearers were grandchildren Leo Roberts, Judy Wilcox, Stewart MacIsaac, Peter MacDonald, David MacDonald and Steven Birett.  Honorary pallbearers were Danny MacInnis, Mark MacInnis, KImball Falkenham, Alex Adams, Ray MacDonald, Reggie MacEachern, George MacDonnell and Buddy MacEachern.  Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Landry) Burgey.  She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, where she was an organist for more than 50 years.  She was active in the Home and School Association, the Altar Society and the Catholic Women’s League.  She is survived by six daughters, Yvonne (Mrs. Alex) MacLean, Georgeville; Leona (Mrs. S.) MacDonald, Toronto; Nancy (Mrs. Joe) MacDonald, Antigonish; Donna (Mrs. Leo) Grant, Thunder Bay, Ont.; Charlotte (Mrs. Allan) MacIsaac, Georgeville; Marguerite (Mrs. Joe) Birett, Burlington, Ont.; three sons, Rankin, Montreal; Larry, Ballantynes Cove; Allan, Antigonish; 36 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  She was predeceased by her husband, Leo.
