Age 81, Margaree Valley passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, surrounded by her family, in the Harbor Lights Villa, Inverary Manor, Inverness. Margaret was a daughter to the late Alex R. and the late Ruth (Conrad) MacEachern. Mom came to Cape Breton from Cape George, Antigonish County to babysit for her sister, Eva. That’s when she met the young fellow from down the hill, the love of her life for 59 years, Alex. They married in 1966 and raised a family of five children. For many years, Mom remained at home raising and taking care of her family. She did work outside the home as her children got older. She worked at Heart of Hart’s in Margaree Valley and also Dorion’s Bakery. Mom made the best apple pies, a tradition she passed on to her daughters. Mom was always a phone call away. She was a devout Catholic who never missed mass. She was a strong woman. No words can express our gratitude for the excellent care that she received from Dr. Susie Egar, and for the exceptional care she received from the caring staff (who became a part of our family…we love you all) of the Harbor Lights Villa of the Inverary Manor…Thank you! Margaret is survived by her husband, Alex Ross; children, Georgina (Maurice) Deveau, Sandy (Micheline) Ross, Verna (Gordie) Burns, Albert (Tanya) Ross, and Earl (Melissa) Ross; brothers, Louie MacEachern, Tommy “Boshy” MacEachern, and Tony MacEachern; sister, Eva Murphy; grandchildren, Byran (Sarah), Kelsey (Alex), Kelton (Courtney), Dylan, Sawyer, Shelby (Blake), Gordon (Kyle), Samantha, Tyler, Sara, Dennis, and Hannah; great-grandchildren, Lucie Mae, Hudson, and Rowan.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son in law, Ernest Poirier; brother, Albert MacEachern; and sisters, Catherine “Girlina” MacInnis, and Carmel Forbes.
Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Church, North East Margaree, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Harbor Lights Villa, Inverary Manor.
